Cheesy Turkey Chili Dip!
Posting my first (of many) recipes here on the blog. I have tons and tons of recipes already posted out on my Instagram page, but I decided it is time to try and put them in one, easily searchable place.
This particular recipe is one of my favorites because it is so versatile! I like a double-duty recipe, and this one fits the bill. Not only can this be used as a dip, but also as a taco or burrito filling, or on top of your favorite starch: potatoes, sweet potatoes, acorn squash (hint: add taco seasoning to your squash to give it more flavor!) and more.
I also love that this recipe is macro-friendly! Each serving will only set you back 13g carbs 7g fat, 28g protein. I will talk about a few ways you can tweak this to hit pretty much any macro combination!
Here is the recipe for the Cheesy Turkey Chili Dip:
- 8 oz Ground Turkey
- 8 oz Ground Turkey Breast
- 1 can Hormel 98% Fat Free Turkey Chili with Beans
- 3/4 cup (84 g) 1/3 Less Fat Philadelphia Cream Cheese
- 1/4 cup (28 g) Fat Free Cream Cheese
- 1/2 cup (56 g) Fat Free Cheddar Cheese
Simple Directions:
Brown all of the turkey meat in a pan. Once it is cooked through, drain any water and add in the whole can of turkey chili, the cream cheeses, and shredded cheese. Mix this together in the pan over medium-low heat until heated through and creamy!
Macros: 13g Carbs, 7g Fat, 28g Protein. Makes around 5-6 servings at 150g per serving.
If you are looking to reduce the fat in this recipe, you can:
- Use all fat free cream cheese, instead of using part 1/3 less fat cream cheese.
- Use all turkey breast, instead of a mix of ground turkey and ground turkey breast. I use a mix, to add more flavor, and because I can usually easily fit around 7g of fat in a part of my day that I would eat this.
Meal Ideas:
Chips & Dip:
Use Mission Extra Thin Corn Tortillas to make your own low fat, lower carb tortilla chips! You can use a pizza cutter to cut the tortillas into triangles, then lightly spray with cooking spray, sprinkle with salt, and bake in a 350 degree oven on a rack for 25 minutes (or until golden and firm). Once you remove them from the oven, lightly squeeze lime juice over top. Add your dip to your favorite dip bowl, surround with your homemade chips, and ENJOY!
BONUS: These tortillas are Gluten-free!
Turkey Chili Tacos:
You can use the same tortillas from Mission to create some delicious Turkey Chili Tacos. Simply heat a pan over medium heat on the stove. Lightly spray it with cooking oil spray, and place your tortillas in the pan to soften.
Once your tortillas are ready, top them with your dip, and any other taco fixings you like! Go with spring mix and onion, for a lighter option. Or, top with chopped tomato, lettuce, and light sour cream. For me, I just topped with lettuce.
