Birthday Fashion & Summer Trends!

Birthday Fashion & Summer Trends!

So this past weekend was the officially unofficial Summer kick-off in the Northeast. Memorial Day marks the “start” of beach and BBQ season, and it just so happens to usually fall on or around my birthday! Huge win for me, especially since that meant a three-day weekend for us. Let me tell you, last Tuesday was the MONDAYEST Tuesday EVER.

I got a lot of likes, comments and questions about my outfits from last weekend, and figured I would share the deets here with you guys. I had two outfits that I wore out, and I also bought some more items I am going to post on another day soon… in the event that you need a good outfit for an event coming up – either casual or a bit more dressy.

Friday night we went to a local outdoor bar for some cocktails and seafood with friends. The ambiance is awesome there, and the company was even better.

They have a “Key West” theme, and I had one more than I should have of their Coconut Mojitos (see: NOT macro-friendly). This time of year, the weather can be unruly. Hot one minute, cold the next, so I wanted to be sure I was at least partially prepared since we would be sitting outside all night.

This lace duster was PERFECTION for the night!

Forget that my husband called me Stevie Nicks and kept following me around singing “Gypsy”… I don’t care. I work from home, so when I get the chance to get dressed, I like to go for it. Well, this venue is more casual so I had to tone it down. I wore a plain black cropped tank from Target under my duster – but I am going to link a similar tank from Amazon since Target no longer has it in stock.

You can shop my duster by clicking on the link below. Unfortunately, you can’t see my cute shoes, but I am also linking those as well so you can grab a pair. I have them in black, and in rose gold! So cute. They’re very flat, but not uncomfortable and leaps and bounds better than a “flip flop” at making a casual outfit still look put-together.

I also got my high-waisted, distressed shorts from Express. Obsessed with all of the new items they have out right now! These are currently on sale from $59.90 to $29.90! A total steal. These are not see through, and they are a tad longer in the back so you don’t have to worry about showing anyone anything they shouldn’t be seeing!

They run true-to-size, I am wearing a size 2. You can find them by clicking here, or you can stop in store to see if they have them in stock in your area.

I also pretty much never leave the house without my beautiful target crossover ring. It is so pretty and sparkly, and so many people have assumed that it is REAL. It also hasn’t shown any signs of wear and tear! Love that.

I also love that this ring doesn’t “spin” around my finger. It stays put, so you can always see the pretty sparkly criss-cross design! You can get yours here.

Okay, so that was the outfit for Friday. Saturday was my absolute favorite outfit maybe ever though. We went to Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City and ate at Wolfgang Puck American Grille. So delicious, but we aren’t here to talk about their Hipster Old Fashioneds or Swordfish (omg). Back in the day (and by that I mean like, 7-12 years ago – inclusive lol), I would have worn something skin tight, cut “down to here” and “up to there” with some sort of sequins.

Don’t hate, I’m from Jersey.

But last weekend, I went with a midi skirt and tank. I NEVER have been able to pull off the midi length – I am 5’2 on a tall day and I have curves so I have to be very careful what I put on my body. However, this Rocky Barnes for Express satin midi skirt in leopard gave me all of the feels.

Had a great time at Borgata Atlantic City in this perfect satin midi skirt!

The tank fit true to size, and I am wearing an XS. It comes in 6 colors (I also bought white) and you can order yours by clicking here.

I bought a size small in the skirt, and it didn’t fit overly snug. I love how nicely it laid over my curves but made me feel trendy and classy. I paired it with this high neck cropped tank, which worked out well since the skirt fit higher on my waist.

I saw a meme a day or two ago that said, “Is it just me, or did every woman in New York City go out and buy a leopard midi skirt overnight.” If they did, I know why. I am really thrilled with how this look came together. Go out and get you one!

Last items that I just have to share because they make my life easier, is my new upcycled keychains! I am notorious for losing my keys, and these make them easier to find and harder to misplace. I have one tassel keychain (I am linking one here that is similar, since mine is sold out), and the other is a mini-purse! I can fit my license, credit/debit cards, and chapstick in it. The beauty is that if I don’t want to, I don’t have to carry around a large purse. This was especially great on Sunday when I went to the grocery store and was juggling Brock. I stuck it in my pocket and had everything I needed!

The quality on this is impeccable. Very sturdy design and craftsmanship.

All in all, my birthday weekend was a hit and these new summer trends kept me looking pretty on point… not too bad for a mom who wears sweats 85% of the time! Everything I am wearing that is available can be found linked here in this post, but feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
